SPLAT VERB is a pheromone-based product for management of bark beetles. The product releases verbenone, an anti-aggregation pheromone that repels bark beetles host trees.

Evidence of a tree being attacked by beetles includes sawdust at the base or in cracks in the bark, masses of sap and small holes the beetles have entered the tree and a month after the attack the leaves of the infested tree begin to change color.

For application to pine trees and other host trees. Targets mountain pine beetle, Dendroctonus ponderosae, and other bark beetle species that respond to verbenone.

The product can be applied with caulking or dosing guns, specialized ground mechanical equipment, or other appropriate tools.
Apply SPLAT VERB prior to bark beetle emergence by 18g (0.6 oz.) compact dollops to the tree trunk at a height of 2m (6.6 ft) from the  ground. Dollops may be evenly distributed across the treatment area on host or non-host trees, or alternatively can be applied to 20 evenly-spaced host trees per acre in four dollops per tree placed on the N,W,E,S directions around the trunk. For best results, apply a higher number of dollops per area. Reapply SPLAT VERB based on monitoring data or at least every 90 days.
SPLAT VERB has weather resistance properties and can withstand  moderate rain events. Re-apply product after strong rain events.  Shorten application interval in consistently rainy or irrigated  environments. Product may wash off if applied less than 4 hours before a rain event.

APPLICATION RATE:
Single tree: 75-115g (2.6-4.1oz.)/tree
Area: 0.75 - 5.0kg(1.7-11.0 lbs.)/acre
*Be sure to comply with local regulations on active ingredient restrictions.

Use of SPLAT VERB can lead to significant decreases in insecticide input. This focused control approach may also prove more effective at keeping  populations under control and avoiding damage while reducing insecticide usage and exposure.

Mountain Pine Beetle

Dendroctonus ponderosae

Bark beetle is the common name for the beetle subfamily Scolytinae. The term "bark beetle" refers to the fact that many species feed on the inner layer of bark (phloem) of trees. Well-known species are members of the Scolytus-like genus, such as the mountain pine beetle Dendroctonus ponderosae, the southern pine beetle Dendroctonus frontalis, and their close relatives are major pests of coniferous forests in North America.
